Eddie Sundquist Announces Candidacy for Congress
With Deep Roots In the Community, He Will Truly Represent The People and Families of the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes

(Jamestown, New York) — Eddie Sundquist officially launched his campaign for New York’s 23rd Congressional District. Born and raised in Jamestown, Eddie has deep roots in the community; his mother has been working at the local package delivery office for over 30 years and is the constable of Jamestown. His sister is training to be a local police officer and is also a volunteer firefighter with the Town of Kiantone.

“My roots are in Jamestown and in this district. I understand what everyday families here are going through because that’s my family and me. People here need less lip service and more results from their representatives,” said Sundquist.

Eddie is a proud graduate of Jamestown High School and is the first in his family to graduate college, having earned a political science degree at St. John Fisher College. After college, Eddie taught science to students at an alternative middle school, a place that is usually overlooked by the traditional education system. In 2011, after having introduced an exploratory science lab in his classroom, Eddie was recognized by his school as Educator of the Year. He went on to organize and coach a student robotics team, the first and only after-school program in the alternative education system. He then earned his Masters of Science in Education at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education.

After receiving his law degree from the University of Buffalo School of Law, Eddie came back home to Jamestown and worked tirelessly on behalf of injured workers and grieving families. His commitment to the community has not wavered. Eddie continues to serve as a founding board member and community trainer for the Erie County Restorative Justice Coalition, a community advocacy organization focused on preventing crime and repairing communities through conflict resolution. Still passionate about education opportunities for all, he also serves as a regional competition judge in the Finger Lakes FIRST Robotics competition.

It’s that passion to make a difference that drives Eddie and why he’s running for Congress now. “Tom Reed defends the elite and special interests in D.C.; I plan to fight for all of the hard working people of the Southern Tier,” stated Sundquist. “We need a true representative who will fight for access to affordable healthcare, high quality child care and education, and economic opportunity for all.”

Starting this week, Eddie will embark on a listening tour, visiting all 11 counties in the district to hear about real issues from the people of the region.
