RELEASE: Dunkirk Mayor Willie Rosas Endorses Eddie Sundquist for Congress

Today, Dunkirk Mayor Willie Rosas – the first Hispanic Mayor ever in New York State – endorsed Democratic Congressional Candidate Eddie Sundquist in his bid to become the next Congressman of the 23rd District.

In a statement, Mayor Rosas said:

“I am excited today to announce I am endorsing Eddie Sundquist for Congress. In January, Eddie released a Jobs Plan that will help put the Southern Tier back to work. The plan, along with Eddie’s energy, enthusiasm, and especially his passion for finding a solution to the opioid epidemic that has ravaged our communities, is why I believe Eddie Sundquist is the right candidate for the 23rd District.

The full text of the Jobs Plan can be read here.

In response, Democratic Congressional Candidate Eddie Sundquist released the following statement:

“It is an absolute honor for me to accept the endorsement of Mayor Willie Rosas. He has been an incredible leader for Dunkirk, and I look forward to working with him in Congress to bring jobs back to the Southern Tier and address the opioid crisis in our communities.”

The endorsement continues a strong beginning to 2018 for Sundquist’s campaign. Already this year, he has received endorsements from:

  • Chautauqua County Democratic Committee
  • Cattaraugus County Democratic Committee
  • Susan Labuhn, Vice Chairwoman of the Cattaraugus County Legislature
  • Steve Keefe, former Mayor of Fredonia, NY
  • LeeAnn Lazarony, former Mayor of Cassadaga, NY
  • Greg Rabb, former Jamestown, NY City Council President
  • Mike Ferguson, 2017 Democratic candidate for Chautauqua County Executive

RELEASE: Tom Reed Can’t Find Jamestown On A Map

After a week full of bad news for Republicans, Congressman Tom Reed released a sad, desperate, and factually incorrect attack on Democratic Congressional Candidate Eddie Sundquist.

The new campaign from Reed asserts that Sundquist is an “Ithaca liberal,” a term that has been recycled election after election by Reed. Sundquist, however, is born & raised in Jamestown, NY – 187 miles from Ithaca.

In response, Democratic Congressional Candidate Eddie Sundquist released the following statement:

“It is cute that Tom Reed claims to represent Jamestown, but can’t seem to find it on a map. I never thought he’d be off by nearly 200 miles, but I guess Tom knows the geography of Washington, DC now more than his own district.

As a former teacher, I’d love for Tom to join me in a classroom so I could show him where Jamestown is, as well as how cutting taxes for the rich does little to help working New York families.”

RELEASE: Tom Reed Is Running Scared After Eddie Sundquist Criticizes Tax Bill Kickback

Photo Evidence: Congressman Tom Reed Hits Panic Button, Sends Cartoonish Mailer to NY-23 Constituents

After recently taking heat on over the Tom Reed Real Estate LLC Kickback, Congressman Tom Reed hit the panic button this week on the offensive sending a cartoonish, name calling direct mail piece to voters in New York’s 23rd District.

This comes just a month after Sundquist criticized Reed for his vote on the GOP Tax Bill, which included special provisions to cut taxes on Real Estate LLCs – something that explicitly benefits Tom Reed. Reed, as a member of the Ways & Means Committee in the House, helped author the bill that cuts out a special provision for his business.

In response, Democratic Congressional candidate Eddie Sundquist released the following statement:

“This mailer shows just how desperate Tom Reed is to distract attention away from his vote on the tax bill. In the tax bill, Tom Reed give himself a special tax cut, cut taxes for the richest 1%, and raised taxes on his middle class constituents – all while raising the deficit and national debt.

If he thinks that fighting for quality jobs, an end to the opioid crisis, and making sure that a healthcare diagnosis isn’t a death sentence makes me an ‘extreme liberal’, Tom is in for a rude awakening on November 6th.”

RELEASE: Minority Leader Sue Labuhn of the Cattaraugus County Legislature Endorses Eddie Sundquist for Congress

The Democratic leader of Cattaraugus County Legislature is throwing her support behind Eddie Sundquist – a Jamestown attorney – for the 23rd Congressional District seat. Minority Leader Susan Labuhn announced her endorsement of Sundquist ‘s candidacy today following Sundquist ‘s victory during the Chautauqua County Democratic Committee ‘s endorsement meeting on Saturday.

In a statement, Labuhn said: “I am pleased to tell the voters of the 23rd that I believe some one as bright and energetic as Eddie Sundquist will be more than able to win both the June 26 Primary and defeat Tom Reed in the November 6 election.

As a retired school nurse I am certain Eddie’s experience as an alternative school teacher for disadvantaged children will serve our district well. As a grandmother I am concerned that college costs will straddle my granddaughters with huge debt – and Eddie pledges to reject tax reforms that hurt students.

While he lives and went to school in Jamestown, he works several days in his firm’s Olean offices in our county making him the local choice. His jobs plan will address the biggest issues in our district- our stagnant economy. He supports investment in broadband infrastructure and spending for technical training for skilled jobs for the residents of our district.”

Labuhn said she has seen Sundquist speak to local groups, met with him one-on-one and heard from many of his opponents.

Today, in an email to supporters, Mike Ferugson – the 2017 Democratic nominee for Chautauqua County Executive – endorsed Democrat Eddie Sundquist for Congress.

While I believe all the candidates have good intentions at heart, there is one that stands leaps and bounds above the rest of the field: our own Eddie Sundquist.

Yesterday, after consulting with numerous local groups and experts, Eddie’s campaign announced a Jobs Plan that will put our county back to work. His commitment to investing in the citizens of the Southern Tier, rebuilding the infrastructure here, and bringing 21st century jobs to this district is unrivaled. No one in this race has put forth such a comprehensive plan, and it shows exactly what Eddie is about – hard work, and a dedication to helping others.”

In response, Democrat Eddie Sundquist released the following statement:

“Mike’s commitment to helping the people of Chautauqua County is unparalleled. I want to thank him for his endorsement, and I am looking forward to the committee vote on Saturday morning.”

Lazarony went on to say:

“During my campaign for Chautauqua County Clerk, Eddie was everywhere. He showed up at nearly every event to be a tireless advocate for Democratic candidates up and down the ballot here. It didn’t matter when or where the event was, or who was campaigning – Eddie was there.

Eddie is also committed to solving an issue particularly close to my heart: the opioid crisis. Recently, the CDC revised the number of deaths from drug overdoses up to over 60,000 in 2016, a record that saw a rise of over 20% from the previous year. the opioid epidemic has hit our county particularly hard and Eddie is committed to finding solutions to heal our families. He has personally asked me about my experiences dealing with this crisis, and has taken my comments to heart. With strong leadership from people like Eddie, we can begin to solve this crisis.”

In response, Democratic Congressional Candidate Eddie Sundquist released the following statement:

“LeeAnn Lazarony is an outstanding public servant and someone who routinely fights for working New York families. I look forward to working with experts like LeeAnn while I am in Congress, to find solutions to the opioid epidemic that is ravaging our communities.”

Former Mayor of Fredonia Steve Keefe Endorses Eddie Sundquist for Congress

Former Mayor of Fredonia, NY & current Fredonia-Pomfret Democratic Chair Steve Keefe endorsed Democrat Eddie Sundquist today in an email to supporters. This comes ahead of the January 20th vote to decide the endorsement of the Chautauqua County Democratic Committee.

In the email, Keefe stated:

“I have met most of the candidates and listened to their ideas for our district and country. One candidate, however, has a clear vision for our district, an understanding of the many issues that have been twisted by the current administration, and a plan to Make Our Country Sane Again. That candidate is Eddie Sundquist.

Eddie campaigned tirelessly for candidates in Chautauqua County – he was everywhere. He proved that he will do the hard work required to elect Democrats to office in this County, and, when he wins, promote Democratic candidates across this district.

As of the last report, Eddie is the top fundraiser in the race. He’s used this advantage to put together a professional staff, and has already started building the operation that will beat the current congressman next fall.”

In response, Democratic Congressional Candidate Eddie Sundquist released the following statement:

“I am honored and humbled to receive the endorsement of my friend and colleague, Steve Keefe. As Mayor of Fredonia, Steve served as an example of what exceptional leadership looks like. I thank him for his endorsement, and look forward to the Chautauqua County Democratic Committee’s vote on January 20th.”
